The day before yesterday, a famous professor called zhao bing,came to GCA to introduce someting briefly about garden.What extremely impressed me is as follows.
Firstly,the word “garden”.It’s called in Chinese many years ago.what’s the most interesting thing is that different parts of the word have different meaging.For example , represents the wall, represents the changing of lands, represents the water and represents the tree.Moreover the word in Latin also has something amusing. “Gen ” means the wall and “Eden” means the paradise.Everybody knows that English has been extended by Latin,maybe that is why the word “garden” has been created. So how interesting it is.This is the charm of the word.
Secondly,the type of garden.There are four different types of garden.The first type is the garden of imperial family,such as the “summer palace”.The second type is the private garden,such as the “Suzhou garden”.The third type is the garden of temples,such as the “Fuzi temple” and the last type is the places of interest,such as the “Yuan lin zhai”in Hangzhou .Among these types of garden,I will take a typical example to introduce ——Suzhou garden.
Suzhou garden is the classical Chinese garden ever constructed outside of china.It seems like a classical city which sits in a forest.Outside the garden,there is a long “dragon”which is consisted by cars.However it is an obviously different scene inside the garden.The lotuses are floating leisurely on the water and the fish are swimming freely in the pond;There are many bizarre rocks and trees sitting on the ground;The sky is blue,the flowers are red.All these things consist a beautiful landscape painting.Water plays one of the most important roles in the garden.A beautiful garden can never be without water.The shape of the lake,the position of the lake and the colour of the lake,are all the factors which affect people’s visual sequel.Another necessary role is the rock.Even though the rocks are superstitious,the position of the rock,the shape of the rock,the number of the rock and the colour of the rock can make them look more realistic.To design a successful and attractive garden,these two roles are indispensable.
In conclusion,I learnt a lot of things about the garden which I can not learn from our text books.I also learnt the history of the Suzhou garden which is one of my favourite gardens.Thank for professor Zhao,for his wonderful lecture.
